Research shows that English learners can achieve at high levels if offered the language support they need. English learners come to us with strengths and assets. Once recognized, those strengths can be further developed by accessing prior knowledge and scaffolding new knowledge. Their education should reflect the same rigor and expectations of a proficient English speaker but include the support needed to succeed.

The goal of our ESL/ELD system of support is to provide teachers of English Language Learners practical strategies to facilitate their students' language development by meeting students at different English proficiency levels. LiteracyTA’s Reading and Writing Framework offers scaffolded instructional processes and tools for responding to various levels of literacy and language development. Our goal is to empower students to become independent thinkers, strategic readers, and proficient speakers and writers of English.
