Important Vocabulary

There are important words in every text that students need to know to understand what they are reading. The Important Vocabulary we choose to explicitly teach should be related to the main ideas in the text. Sometimes, words outside of the text may need to be taught in order to increase students' comprehension. Have fun with these words. Tell stories. Help students complete the graphic organizes. Act out the words. Word play is key to student engagement and understanding of new words.
