Madagascar is an island off the southern coast of Africa. It consists of diverse habitats including rain- forests, highlands and deciduous forests. Over time ecologically habitats can change and studies have shown that many ecosystems we see today differ from what they were in the past.

In a small group, summarize Boyd's main ideas on the relevance of mouse lemur DNA "Ridiculously cute mouse lemurs hold key to Madagascar's past." Describe the key evidence (or details) the author uses to inform his/her readers. Discuss the author's purpose for writing the text and identify the intended audience. Be ready to share your ideas with the rest of the class.
