More for Students More for Teachers

LiteracyTA is an online tool for teaching and learning. Both teachers and students are encouraged to click around the site and learn as much as they can about academic literacy. LiteracyTA is also designed to help teachers teach. For example, each strategy page has "Strategy Slides" that offer ideas, procedures, and various tools for implementing a strategy. Teachers can project the "Strategy Slides" and teach right from the screen. No PowerPoints are necessary.

Our student handouts are also presentation ready. Teachers are too busy to make copies of support materials every morning. Besides, most of the time teachers need a support tool in the middle of teaching. We can't always predict what type of support and/or scaffolding tools we will need for each class. LiteracyTA's handouts are always ready. Log in, click the strategy you want to teach, project the reading, writing, or speaking support you need, and get teaching. No need to slow down. Don't worry about making copies. Stop writing sentence starters on the white board every period. Use our student handouts, "Strategy Slides," and classroom photos to teach and support your students.

Literacy Standards In Action

We've mapped our literacy lessons and reading, speaking, and writing skills to state standards, Common Core, and NGSS. The standards are "the what" to teach. Our lessons are "the how" to meet the expectations defined by the standards. Click on the links below to view our quick reference table that maps standards to literacy lessons.
