School-Wide Literacy Programs
LiteracyTA would like to create relationships with schools and districts to help develop and move their literacy programs forward. Our mission is to improve student achievement school-wide through explicit, skill-based instruction. We believe that a school-wide approach to literacy instruction is the most effective way to increase student achievement. LiteracyTA has highly qualified literacy experts who provide "face-to-face" training for schools and districts interested in building a critical mass of teachers who can bring literacy strategies into the classroom and spread them across a school.
Our goal is to move teachers through a four-year certification process, and at the end of the process, the teachers become LiteracyTA Coaches. These coaches work with individual teachers at their sites to ensure school-wide literacy is achieved. Sending teachers through the four-year certification process will help build leadership capacity in the school (and district) while building a base of literacy coaches on campus. With a team of literacy experts on campus, a school can offer continuous, high quality professional development in literacy strategies, manage a productive literacy team, and ensure the development and implementation of an effective school-wide literacy program.
