Literacy Skills
LiteracyTA members receive access to fifteen core literacy strategies: five deep reading strategies; five collaborative learning strategies; and five essential writing strategies. Each letter on the Strategy Slider Bar represents a literacy skill and the vibrant colors make it easy to locate each strategy. Members and members who haven't purchased a full membership have access to the Strategy Slider Bar and an introduction to all fifteen skills. But only LiteracyTA members have access to the student handouts, Strategy Slides, tips, and instructional strategies that are specifically designed to support the teaching of each skill.
LTA Process
The LiteracyTA Process focuses on three key elements of effective literacy instruction:
- Assessing
- Planning
- Implementing
For each step in the process, we provide a practical methodology that content area teachers could use to assist in the teaching of each literacy strategy. The LiteracyTA Process is specifically designed to enhance instruction and increase students’ ability read, write, and speak with greater proficiency. There is a unique "Process" for each literacy skill.
Strategy Slides
Think of this feature as ready-made teaching slides. LiteracyTA members have access to bright, clear slides that they can use to facilitate a number of literacy activities. The "Strategy Slides" open on a click of a button and slide away when they are not needed. Teachers navigate the slides by clicking on the tabs at the top of each slide.
Student Handouts
Along with the visual tutorials, "Strategy Slides," and countless other interactive elements, LiteracyTA members have access to well-designed, practical "Student Handouts" that can be projected onto a screen or printed for students to use. The student handouts include activities, one-page strategy tutorials, and strategy rubrics.
Visual Tutorials
LiteracyTA is as much a teaching tool as it is a learning tool. The site is designed in such a way that members learn as they explore the site. Images lift off of the page, information slides in from different directions, and new content appears with every click of the mouse.
Instructional Roundtable
The Instructional Roundtable offers sound instructional strategies teachers can use to implement skill-based instruction. For each skill, teachers are given tips and strategies to learn how to pace, support, and facilitate skill-based instruction.
